Here are the steps how to duplicate the WWNN and how to fix it if the WWNN was already duplicated.
-A controller plugged in into slot A (the master controller) will update the controller in slot B (slave controller), this update include the WWN and WWPN from the master controller.
Example: (original WWNN)
activeraid 1 = ctrl A WWN 50:02:2C:10:01:0C:94:00 and ctrl B WWN 50:02:2C:10:01:0C:94:01
activeraid 2 = ctrl A WWN 50:02:2C:10:01:15:74:00 and ctrl B WWN 50:02:2C:10:01:15:74:01
-How to duplicate WWNN:
step 1. Remove ctrlA from activeRaid 1 and ctrl B from activeRaid 2
step2. swap controllers (cross controllers)
-result:
the ctrl B from activeRaid 2 now is the master controller in activeRaid 1 so it will update the WWN on ctrl B
the ctrl A from activeRaid 1 now is the slave controller in activeRaid 2 will be updated for ctrl A.
Example (WWNN duplicated after cross controllers from system 1 to system 2)
activeraid 1 ctrl A (old ctrl B) WWN 50:02:2C:10:01:15:74:00 and ctrl B WWN 50:02:2C:10:01:15:74:01
activeraid 2 ctrl A WWN 50:02:2C:10:01:15:74:00 and ctrl B (old ctrl A) WWN 50:02:2C:10:01:15:74:01
Recommendation:
- Don't cross controllers from system to system.
Note: if you already duplicated the WWNN Contact Active Storage support immediately
