The ActiveRAID storage system is a highly dense storage package using the latest technology throughout. Our level of density provides more capacity in a small footprint - often using less power than what multiple enclosures with the same density would require. The compact design with Active cooling technology offers superior cooling efficiency while using less power to run the cooling system. The system utilizes redundant fully load sharing power supplies.
The ActiveRAID employs universal auto-sensing power supplies. The power supplies are fully redundant, load sharing and will work with power from 100v to 240v and 47-63Hz source. If the system is being used outside the US, you should contact Active Storage for the proper power cord. We measure average idle power at 230 W, max idle power 268 W. You may notice occasional increases as the system idles - because we do periodic background disk scrubbing. In a warm environment, with disks exercising very hard such as full random seek behavior - the max power is 400W. We also use sequential spin technology that should not exceed 300 W on startup. Your ActiveRAID will appreciate a lower room temperature and will draw less power as our Active cooling modules automatically adjust the fan speeds.
